In order to do well and excel in this online course, I will need specific skills and possess certain characteristics to meet the demands an online course offers. Specific skills are essential in technology such as using a computer, understanding the Internet its tools that include Blackboard, blogging, pod casting, vlogging, and how do to research that is authentic. Characteristics that are important to succeed are good organizational skills, meeting deadlines, being respectful to others, participate in writings and discussions with confidence and tact, listening carefully and reading comprehension. An online course offers more than a face to face class insomuch as the material is at your fingertips at any time versus hand written notes that may be obscurred or with missing information.
Because I am so busy at home and in my community with daily chores, meeting the needs of my children and husband, and my own personal committments, this course offered online makes it possible for me to pursue an education. How do I meet the demands? I generally go nuts, then, calm down and find time to do the things I desire in life. Well, like stopping and smelling the roses, whether the laundry room is full, or supper hasn't been cooked, sometimes, I just take a break and say, "I'm on strike today! Fend for yourselves! Good luck!" Do you blame me? So, hopefully with personal perservance I will succeed, afterall, I have managed ten children to date.
I spent just over an hour on this writing between two children fighting, one crying, another wanting to go to the gym, and I didn't cook supper! Thank you for reading.

Introduction
Hello,
My name is Kay Andrews. I live in a southwest village called Aleknagik. My mother was born and raised in Aleknagik by my grandparents in the region of Bristol Bay, Alaska. I have lived here part of my life, and have lived here since 1979. I am married with ten children, and one grandchild. We are a commercial fishing family and live a subsistence lifestyle. I enjoy splitting, hanging, smoking, canning, salting, preserving and eating all kinds of fish!
With this English course, I hope to gain a better understanding of writing. What to do and what not to do. How to present a good presentation, express myself, and send the right kind of written communication messages clearly.
Currently, I am enrolled in the Health Care Reimbursement Certificate Program and hope to graduate this Spring along with 3 occupational endorsements; medical reception, medical coding, and medical billing. This is in the short term, for the longer term, I hope to advance and earn an A.A.S. in Applied Business with a concenstration in Health Care Management. My ultimate goal is to attain a Bachelor's Degree in Business or Public Administration.
This English course will be a stepping stone for advancement in my education. I know that other English courses will follow, but with a good foundation in English, I can accomplish my aspirations. Concerning my writing history, I completed a Business English course years ago. Approximately three or four semesters back (although I hate to admit it) I dropped out of an English course because I felt too overwhelmed and inadequate to complete the work. Well, with new spirit, ambition, and solid goals, I enroll this route to overcome this fear of English and writing.
I look forward to learning with you in confidence, my classmates, and wish you the best in this course and your endeavors.
